Funk Society

(CJP Circ 1990)

Funk Society, I’ve got better things to do with my time,

Like drinking, smoking dope, n’ doin ‘fine Tee Vee Soap Prime Time’

But when I look in my mirror tile,

where did it go my curly smile?

In my long-neck, in my pipe?

Or somewhere there in all of that Tee Vee hype?

No, there it is, I got the scope,

It’s hang’n off of society’s rope,

gett’n free cash for neat dress,

there at the D.S.S.

But I am aware and I DO care,

so I say NO!

I work my OWN wood, I do what I do for my OWN good,

and for the good of my Friends.

More says my Friends than, “Have a nice day thanks for BUYING here”.

See, they like VARIETY, and they like UNITY,

and long hair’s nothin’ ta fear.

RED – BLACK – STRAIGHT or QUEER!

So what do I do when I’m feelin’ blue?

There ain’t no job, only loosers rob, n gettin’ HIGH’S the same ol’ game?

I say, “That ain’t me, I’m for my Friends you see, and my Friends you see,

are my COMMUNITY!

SO I WORK, FOR CHARITY,

MY MINDS EYE CLARITY,

AND MY CULTURE’S GOOD NAME,

I need on one to blame,

for this here’s MY OWN GAME!

FUNK SOCIETY!
